Sanctuary Anniversary Lovefeast
Sunday August 13, 2017
Everyone is invited to enjoy a festive celebration, for the 230th time, as on Sunday, August 13, at the 8am and 10:30am worship services, Lititz Moravian Congregation gives thanks to God for its historic sanctuary.
Pastor Dean Jurgen will preach a meditation on “Church Building is a Verb!” Pastor Dean says “The building of the building took place 230 years ago, but the building up of the Body of Christ is ongoing.” Mark Breland adds “The church is not a building; the church is the people, but the building has enabled the blessing of those who have gathered here for 230 years.”
The service will be a traditional Moravian lovefeast, which is a festive service of music and a simple meal shared in the love Christ gives us to share with all. Hymns are chosen to speak to the occasion of the day, and while singing everyone is served a sweet bun and either coffee or chocolate milk, which are held until all have been served, the meal is enjoyed with sisters and brothers in Christ. While enjoying the meal, the Senior Choir offers a couple of special musical offerings. Pastor Dean Jurgen says “We will ponder God’s gift to us of a place of worship, even as we know that real worship is in Spirit and in truth, not in a place.”
